Hello everyone, I found this on Ebay. It is a REALLY nice coin.Does anyone have a clue what it is actually worth? The listing say only 425 minted? I can't seem to find any info on it. Thanks in advance. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=350195754895
That seems to be about the going rate for them, have a few bits in my own collection They are privatly manufactured fantasy pieces, what a coin might have looked like if it had been minted. Coins were produced for the following countries and the Monarchs featured were I believe Victoria, Hong Kong 1 coin, Isle of Man 1 coin Edward VIII, Australia 1 coin, Cyprus 1 coin, Ireland 1 coin, Jersey 1 coin George V, GB 2 coin Edward VIII, GB 4 coin, S Rhodesia 1 coin, Cyprus 1 coin, New Zeland 1 coin, South Africa 1 coin There might have been more but i am not certain of it
This is what they call a retro-pattern. As De Orc says, privately minted by Richard Lobel with limited mintage in multiple compositions. These were minted for almost every possible British commonwealth countries and are cool. They do not quite look like coins, rather medals and feature in the Krause book of unusual world coins if you need more information (including pricing).
Thank you De Orc!, I thought it looked WAY to clean to have been minted in 1901! It is pretty though.
