I am finding New Zealand Coins increasingly facinating and I wonder if anyone else collects them? I am thinking of making a complete 6 pence tui bird series.

I have some, but they might not be what you are collecting...

Giant Weta for the "Coins with Insects" collection...

and for the "Coins with small coins as the design itself" collection... Unc and Proof...

    and Proof...

The scratches are on the airtite not on the coin itself. The coin is perfect.

Long time collector of New Zealand coins, overwhelmingly decimal uncirculated and proof sets, plus any single issue coins, but I do have a few sets from the last of the sterling years, too.

On one of my periodic Ebay binges, I ended buying the entire pre-decimal run from halfpennies through half-crowns. Never really looked at anything post 1967.

There used to be a pretty neat and active web site for collectors of NZ coinage I spent time on. There were lots of very knowledgeable collectors.

I've had virtually a complete set (1933 - date) in the past but my only interest now days in on the circulating decimals, some NCLT, and the older silver (especially 1S). I like the mint sets and think they are undervalued.

I collect a few odds and ends from New Zealand.

I never really bothered to take pictures. But here's the key date for the predecimal years. It's one of very few slabbed coins I own. 1935 New Zealand threepence.JPG

    I had a 42

I might collect these large Penny's. They are hard to get in really really good condition

I've got a few New Zealand predecimal coins - not my main collecting focus but they're cheaper and easier than Australian and British coins.
Living in Australia I regularly get the old decimals in coins rolls too.

which are the key dates? The 1941 Pennny seems key, but I am not sure why? there is a decent enough mintage.
