This thread stems from another, but it made me curious as to who carries a pocket piece, what it is, and why exactly they carry it. The original inspiration went something like this: and yes, Doug... I am curious as to what your pocket piece is.
I carry two pocket pieces. One is a counterfeit 1838 lettered edge bust half. They stopped lettering halves in 1836, but the lettering makes for really fascinating conversations when I show it to novices. My second is more of a challenge coin of sorts. I have a group of friends who all carry Canadian 1967 "Goose" dollars. It is ALWAYS with me, and reminds me of my friends who care about me.
Do you mean a 45 ACP compact or .357 pocket piece? Do you mean a 45 ACP compact or .357 pocket piece?
I carry a 1976 Ike Dollar that is incredibly worn down. I got it in the mid 80's and realized it must have been a casino coin from Vegas due to the extreme wear and tear. I keep it for good luck and hope to wear it smooth. It won me an important coin toss in college, so it holds great sentimental value.
I dont carry a pocket piece but have been trying to think of the right coin in my collection to be a candidate. As of yet I havent decided on one.
My pocket piece is a 1994-D Kennedy Half. I have carried it since 1994. I had a pocket piece before that - a 1985 Kennedy Half (I'm not sure of the date now) but I lost it. Why do I carry it? For the same reason as rdo:
I carry an X/F 1938 d Walking Liberty Half in an airtite. I love that coin and yes it makes me feel lucky.
1972 Ike and a bicentenial Ike together in a plastic flip. Its my security blanket My 3 yr old likes them cuz they are shiney, reminds me of her.
I like the idea of carrying a pocket piece. I'd never thought about it before. Trouble is I'd have trouble choosing so I'd probably end up with a pocket full of coins which I couldn't spend.
Glock 27. or somedays it may be a S&W .40 M&P. I used to carry around a Morgan but it disappeared one day never to be found (by me) Then I started carrying around a Sacky. I couldnt keep doing it, started giving me nightmares. Man thats an ugly coin.
