I was looking through some coins I won on auction, and I found this! Opinions? (Closest I saw was FS 506, but not a perfect match.) WIN_20200227_14_17_02_Pro.jpg IMG_0160.jpg IMG_0159.jpg

I am really not seeing any MM positions that are correct.
009 is too high and 003 is too low.
    I think it is MD.

Im not sure. It can be hard without the coin in hand. What I can do is take some closeups of the rest of the reverse. If it is indeed MD, then it will show through the rest of the coin at roughly the same degree, right? (If it helps, it is a blunt 9, not a pointed 9. That rules out 3.)

Nope MD can happen anywhere on the coin. Even on one device.

Ok, well I will am going to wait for a few more opinions (No offence, just in case) since I have 1 person saying absolutely, I have one saying MD, and its likeness to 3 (With the wrong position).

Hope you didn't think i said "absolutely" as i didn't. It looks like it to me but it requires good full clear images of both sides and then you need a TPG to certify it as such.

Ok, well I think in this case I am going to gamble and see if I can get it attributed to the variety vista list.

Mechanical Doubling - very common on
64-D dimes and quarters, just the MM area.

Is there a way to discern the MD from the RPM's?

Also, I have another piece I found, possibly an RPM, likely MD.

From the picture provided all it looks like to me is MD.

Ok, well thank you. I did manage to find a FS-501, and posted it though, so not a total bust! Also, is there any records of a MM being found misplaced on the 1964 D dimes? In LIBERTY to particular.

Danomite What do you say uh-huh

    Misplaced to the obverse die?

Well I did my own research, and I REALLY need someones opinion. I did some research, and as I thought, there is a such a thing as a misplaced mm. (Happens when the punch is dropped on the die.), and though unlikely, the size and shape are so close, that i need to ask.
