I have the opportunity to purchase what I believe to be a 1928. Some of the features mentioned here appear to be present in the coin, but I am a little paranoid so I'd like an objective opinion before I buy the coin. It's a part of a lot that a young lady is looking to get rid of (so goes the story). I'd appreciate any help I can get. The images are from the lady.

NEVER buy a coin outside at night...

I think I bought an altered coin, but I am hoping that the experts here will alleviate my fears. It seems that the S may have been rubbed out but there was no way to tell that in the dark and I wasn't about to invite myself into a lady's home.

Please take a look and tell me if I really have a 1928-S. I still got a decent deal, especially if silver will go back up, but I was hoping for more. Thanks in advance!

Um, the one without the S is the valuable one....

I know. I'm afraid I bought an S version that has been altered to make it look like the valuable one. I guess my earlier post was unclear.

You clearly know which one you're hoping for, so that's a non-issue.

As for your concerns, I still cannot see well enough to say either way, even with the updated photos.

If silver value has the potential to bail you out if this, in fact, turns out to be an altered coin, let's just say that the the shafting would have been mutual.
