Any of those then email me and let me know and i'll get you through to
the right people who have the contacts for the collector that's had
    them stolen.

This is any collector's worst nightmare and the more publicity we can
get the harder it will be for the crooks to sell them on.

Forgot to mention, robbery took place in Surrey, UK, on 26th January.

    When did this happen?

I can personally attest to that fact. That collector must be feeling sick to his stomach.

Good luck to him on recovering his coins, and bringing the criminal(s) to justice.

Even worse actually Jody, new info suggest the guy that's had them pinched was actually a dealer. So not only have they taken his coins but also a substantial part of his livelihood.

So of those pieces are irreplacible in the scheme of things. The James II tin coin being one of the ones. 17th century tin coins with near full lustre are probably less than 2% of the total surviving population. That's my hazarded guess but tin corrodes real bad.

What is the likely venue for the thief or thieves to dispose of these items. They're not the kind of thing you walk into any local coin store and sell.

I can certainly understand how those pieces would be irreplacible, Sylvester.
Hopefully, as a dealer, the gentleman had his inventory insured. That would at least cover his investment, and keep him in business.

Insurance is a must, not only for the dealer, but the collector, as well. ;)

 GRRRRRRRR  If I get my hands on this low life thief, there will be no need to spend taxpayers money on trial--

This seems to me like the type of thing that an intelligent criminal (which I will confess is arguably oxymoronic) would take up to London or another big city. An unfamiliar face with rare, but hardly unheard of, coins is much less likely to be questioned there about the coins' provenance than another dealer in the Surrey area would do.

Unfortunately, Ebay is also a pretty easy way to get rid of stuff like this.

Well dealers have been, informed as have auction houses.

It turns out that it was an armed robbery, as far as we can tell no one was hurt, it occurs at the dealer's house.

The dealer is Mark Davidson who was part of the team that wrote the Coincraft catalogue of UK coins. So it's quite a high profile dealer.

Sounds like a professional job to me.

    Thats too bad.

Hopefully the authorities will catch the scumbags that were involved.

Has there been any updated info on this robbery? Now a year later?

    Sylvester,
Is this the same Mark Davidson that helped edit the hammered coin part of the Coincraft Catalog?
I'm pretty sure I once purchased a George III sixpence from his place in Surrey, not in person..e-mail and snail mail.I hope his coins are recovered.
By the way,WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN??

Perhaps it might be better to publize the NGC number? Or by ridicious luck, you might be able to find some idiot trying to sell them on scambay?
