When I post my show reports, I used to upload all the photos to Photobucket, and copy each photo link into a Word document, write the text, then copy and past the whole thing into the PCGS, NGC, and CoinTalk forums. However, now with the new PCGS forum, all I have to do is upload each photo right where it fits in the narrative directly in the post. However, with NGC and CoinTalk, I would also have to do it the old way, including separate each post into less than 20 photos, which is very time consuming. Does anyone have any suggestions how to best create my show report without having to do everything two different ways? For now, here's a link to the report on the PCGS forum: https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/974454/charmys-2017-fun-show-report-w-lots-of-pics/p1?new=1 _________________________ Charmy Harker • The Penny Lady® Member of: ANA, PNG, PCGS, NGC, Fly-In Club, EAC, CTCC, TAMS and President of WIN (Women In Numismatics) http://www.thepennylady.com
You can upload photos directly to CT. Just click "Upload a file," and then "Insert file as full image," et voila!
I am not sure what you are doing but I can load any picture any where I load them either directly from my computer or simply copy and paste them. Both work. However, I have never had the occasion to push the 20 picture limit
as always I love your pics from your reports. Being a cat owner of 3 great cats I also like seeing your cat Penny's pics. Looks like you had a blast.
Although I look forward to seeing everyone's show report posts, yours are the most anticipated. Thank you again.
You know that your coin show reports are welcome and liked here but yes, the limited number of attachments per post is built into the forum software. For most topics and messages that works fine. The basic structure of your reports could be the same in most forums, I think - after all, Coin Talk also allows you to put images at precisely the place where you want them to appear in your story. I realize that having to make different versions is a drag, but why not use several posts for one report? That should work here and in the other forums you mentioned. You could upload your images here, or use "img" links if they are stored elsewhere ... Christian
Just upload the photo. How do you think we do it? Do you see where it says "Upload a File?" Put the photos in your device and upload those files directly to your thread. We like this format, here. Personally, compared to here, the PCGS forums are like in the Stone Ages. Just my opinion... Off-Topic: @rlm's cents, I'll bet they didn't give that "woodie" 1914 a gem grade. My observation is they have have trouble with those. Then again, maybe if they'd look at it for longer than 5 seconds...
Wow, that 1914 (woodie) I guess it's called is beautiful. I'm somewhat new to metal composition, could you tell me how that is produced, or occurs. Thanks for your time
Thank you for all your support and comments, I really appreciate them - and I really appreciate you all! I will just have to figure out what works best, for me and the forums. I do understand and realize that I can simply upload the photos here, but I know that having to upload all of the photos in my reports 3 separate times for 3 separate forums will not work for me, it's just way too time consuming. (Keep in mind, the days following my return from a large show are also the most busy time for my business - processing new coins, adding them to my website, updating inventory for sales and purchases, shipping new purchases, banking, post office, etc.) Before, I only had to upload photos once, then I would just copy and paste the text and links. The only difference for CoinTalk was that I had to cut and past in sections to allow for the 20 maximum photos per post, but that was no big deal. (It made me chuckle a few times, because even though I tried to do this rather quickly, once in a while a forum member would catch me and post a reply right in the middle of the cut and past process!) Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining whatsoever, I'm just trying trying to explain the issues and trying to figure out how to do this the most efficient way. Even though it's not the most ideal, it may be that providing a link like I did here will have to do.
You will want to look at this thread. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/got-wood.65353/ They happen because the alloy is not properly mixed and different alloys tone different in time
You can always just link the CU forum thread here as you did above and CT members can comment here. Its not ideal but if it takes too long better to do that than just stop posting report threads on CT imo. Its not like the CU threads will go anywhere so the links should still work down the forseeable future
If people don't mind, I know it will be the simplest way for me to continue posting my reports here. Thank you!
We click links over here all the time when we feel like it. We clicked this one just to see your report, we can click one more. But what are you going to do about NGC? Half of them have been banned from CU and can't post there.
Probably the same thing as I do here - post a link to CU. Even though some people may not be able to post on CU, they can still view all the threads.
I miss the days when you could build a thread on one site and just copy and past on a different site. NGC is going to launch new software soon. Maybe that will help.
