    Hello folk's.
Many years ago back in the 80's I collected the Cameo Proof coins from 1950-1964 cent thru 50 cent.
I am ashamed to say that today all that remain are the penny's 1953 thru-1964, nickles 1950-1964 (only missing the 1952) and dimes 50-64.
I have been trying to get good images of the nickles for a while and I just cant capture the beauty and color of them to save my life.
all of them are golden toned except for 3 which are electric blue, 2 of them a very light multi-color cameo.

I have them all in a capital plastics holder and look them over often. I do not want to toot my own horn, but these coins are beautiful with deep strikes. I took them to a show in Boston and showed them to a dealer, he called over a few of his buddies to check them out. I was asked by 3 dealers if I wanted to sell.

The nickles are striking, the cents are deep and light red/orange with nice deepstrikes. I wonder what will happen to them when the new 2009 commem cent come out?

I will attempt to image them again in the future and post them here for you all to see.

    Regards,

    RickieB

    Well Doug...sorta...
The nickles that are blue are like a steel blue solid no other color. The lighter ones are a rainbow mix and when rotating the coin there are all colors. The others that are gold look like a really deep mirror gold soild front and back.
Not to much like what you linked.

That was my point - they come in all colors. They are extremely difficult to photograph and capture the color. But JD did a pretty good job. I have a box full of them ( I plan to give away one of these days ) - those pictured came from me. They are gorgeous coins though !

Great color on those nickels, Doug.
    The photography is top-notch.

I look forward to seeimg Rickie's nickels.
Cameo contrast, on nickels from that year range, are hard to find.
They're out there, but "Brilliant Proofs" are much more common.

Anyone have any idea why the early 60's Nickels look like the 1964 pictured. I've got a couple and seen even more with that very light blue hue. I like it - it looks really nice, just don't understand why the early 60's Jefferson's turn that light blue.

Doug - I love those pictures - Thanks for sharing them... :thumb:

RickieB - Really look forward to seeing yours, If you are as discriminating with your nickels as you are with your New York Notes - I'm sure they are a sight to see.
