If you read my last thread, I said that I will need to get a good camera sooner or later as an investment, but what I didnt now was that I was going to buy one today! Its amazing for taking coin pictures! And so I wrote this thread because I found a possible 1953 Candian Penny, paid 5 cents and was wondering its condition, and is it a strap or no strap variety? Thanks, xGAJx And, I also got a camera stand so it doesnt move while taking pictures... So what's condition, value and is it the no strap variety?
First, good for you for getting the camera. The condition appears to be XF/AU, but I'm really not familiar with Canadian coinage. There does appear to be some minor damage (scratch) on the obverse above the "IA" of GRATIA and some corrosion on the reverse. Now, the next thing you have to do is learn to crop your photos so you don't cut off part of the image. LOL! Nice job. Chris
Yeah... It only cost me 350 bucks... lol but it will be so usefull and I can do great closeups with it! And I wasnt using my camera stand then, i was too excited. And yeah the corrosion isnt that bad, but If it is the no strap variety it might be worth still a little.
Well the candian mint made a penny in 1953, and lots of people said it was seductive looking because it showed too much. Lol, so they added a strap on her shirt to show less.
The with strap and no strap coins are better termed varieties, not errors. Regardless, the 1953 cents carry little premium.
is that true? I thought it carried a big premium for no strap varieties. And yes I did post in my title it was a possible error, but nevertheless i corrected my mistake in my other posts.
