Because of @dougsmit , I was going through some of my LRBs. This one I had as Aurelian but no other info. It seems to be RIC142 but even accounting for missing letters, I'm not sure the legend on wildwinds is the same as what is on my coin. This is the legend according to Wildwinds: IMP C AURELIANUS P AUG ROMAE AETERNAE I'd appreciate any input and please post anything related. Jim
Your reverse legend is ROMAE AETER. Both short and long (AETERNAE) legends are lumped together as RIC 142.
RIC shows 27 obverse legends for Aurelian including the one on Wildwinds. I do not have one. The new RIC replacement has over 40. Let me know when you finish THAT set. http://www.ric.mom.fr/en/search/advanced RIC volumes vary in terms of usefulness. Some are really nice books we all should own. Others were in need of replacement when most of us (myself included?) came to the hobby. Vol. V is among the worst.
http://www.ric.mom.fr/en/search/adv...ion=&Note=&Reference=&page=1&mod=result&hpp=5 I didn't do an exhaustive search but that Wildwinds listing does not seem to be on the new RIC site. Remember that Wildwinds is a compilation of listings by sellers and collectors and includes many errors. Dane does a wonderful job but the old term is 'Garbage in - Garbage out'. If you can research the listing in Wildwinds and establish that it was not a correct reading from the coin shown, you should report it for editing.
the Wildwinds coin for RIC 142 has a legend of IMP AVRELIANVS AVG despite the error in the description...the same legend as H8_modern's coin...which is the legend listed in RIC. below is the coin--
