I have an AE 3 bronze roman coin that I am having the dickens trying to identify. The obv has a bearded ceaser (the beard appears as dots) facing right with a radiate crown. The only part of the legend read able is S AVG. On the reverse, the only part of the legend readable is FIDE (which i assume is FIDES), there is a figure (fides?) facing left or half-left holding a standard on the left as you look at the coin and a scepter on the right. The exergue is shallow and contains no markings. I will try and post a picture tomorrow as my camer is mission at this moment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
msybe something like this? Gallienus Billon Antoninianus. GALLIENVS AVG, radiate bust right / FIDES MILITVM, Fides standing left holding standard & scepter; in field to r., N. RIC 192a, Cohen 246. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear/s2956.html#RIC_0192a
Thats it exactly, dang it, i was looking in the wrong decade. I was researching the prior 10 years to diocletian, when i should have been 20 years back.
