My Julius Caesar and Vitellius denarii have finally arrived from overseas. So here they all are in the box: all of the Twelve Caesars. The only thing left to do is submit the last four raw coins (Julius Caesar, Caligula, Galba, and Vitellius) to NGC.
Congrats. How long are you going to keep these before you decide to part with them, like the other sub-sets you've done? Or, do you plan on holding onto these for a long time?
Good question. Dunno. I will say that I have no intention of selling them in the short term. I might upgrade some of the coins later, in which case I’d sell off the extras, but overall, I intend to keep these for the foreseeable future. In the past, when I had much tighter budget constraints, I used to sell off my completed projects because that was the only way I’d have the capital to begin a new project. Nowadays I can better afford to hold onto stuff longer. About two years or so. Maybe two and a half. I’ve had the Vespasian coin much longer than that. The first time I did the Twelve Caesars (ten years ago), Otho and Caligula were the most challenging for me. This time it was Julius Caesar and Caligula.
Here’s the gallery with individual photos, though as of this posting I have not yet added the more recently purchased Julius Caesar and Vitellius coins. https://www.colleconline.com/en/col...ial-and-republican-the-twelve-caesars-of-rome
A great achievement (and with shiny gold as well!). One day I'll add to the three I have and the momentum will start.
