Stopped by my credit union. I try to ask for halves and "large dollar coins", but they have *never* had anything more than a few dollars worth of halves. Until yesterday, when I walked out with $240 worth of Eisenhower dollars. I also had a stack on my shelf that I have been collecting for the past few months. I must admit, I was a little disappointed not to see any 40% silver, Morgans, Peace dollars, or ASEs, but hey... I can still have some fun, right? I'll update as I go along, but these are the rough number: 1971: 40 1972: 120 1973: 1 1974: 40 1976: 14 1977: 9 1978: 23 I've only started studying http://www.ikegroup.info and other resources. I began with 1971. I didn't find any "Tiger Claws", but I'm pretty sure I found a "Friendly Eagle". He's seen some circulation, that't for sure... and I need to get rid of that green gunk, but hey... it's a start.
Is this a Type 2? Please tell me it is because I've already looked through all of the 1972's and this is the only one that looks even remotely close ;-)
Compare yours with my 2. I'm having a hard time telling on your picture but I am cautiously optimistic.
Since it has the die crack, between TAT of STATES, here's a good place to start . http://www.ikegroup.info/?page_id=225
No, but you did get a mint set only 1973. And the picture you posted of the possible 72 Type 2 looks good to me.
Update: 1972 Type 1: 82 1972 Type 2: 1 (I think, I hope) 1972 Type 3: 36 1976 Type 1: 2 1976 Type 2: 13 (my count was off in my initial census)
Nice find on the Ike’s. I personally like the Type 3’s the best. Can you give us pictures of the whole front and back of your Type 2. Maybe someone can tell if it’s a March or October produced coin.
No "Peg Leg" (7D-201) varieties on the 1977s... and of course no 7D-701's either (business strike on 40% silver planchet). Here are full pics of the front and back of the 1972.
Looks to be a March issue. Pick up point on the observe is the die chip under the N go IGWT. It’s a keeper.
