I recently traded 12 1964 Kennedy halves for 12 Walker halves. The walkers are from the 1940's including one 1935. I like to do both, stack silver (when I can find it) from roll searching and collect nicer coins not so circulated. A man I know locally only roll searches for silver and doesn't care any thing about collecting nice coins. He sales what he finds for melt value. So we traded 12 of my 64's for 12 of his Walkers. All though worn from circulation and no key dates I was happy to trade for the Walkers as it is one of my favorite coins.
The Kennedy halves likely retained a bit more silver, and the Walkers retained a lot more beauty. Good trade for both sides!
I think that the Walking Liberty Half Dollar design was the most beautiful U.S. coin of the 20th century. The "walkers" are definitely more interesting than the 1964 Kennedy coins.
Yes, that is quite important. Many people like the Standing Liberty Quarter, but, in my opinion, that design does not hold up well once it is worn. I'm not talking about the dateless problem. It's just that the coin does not look nice in grades like VF and lower.
