a hopefully relaxing task

I haven't done this in years, but I purchased a small lot of inexpensive, low-grade Byzantine coins. This was the nicest of the unsold lots, in my opinion, and the $2.75 per coin cost presented no risk.

It might be relaxing to attribute them. I've already attributed some by the picture alone. I wish to find the DOC sub-groups for the A2 folles, which I've largely done already.

There are no beauties in here, but they're BD-free. The coin under the Michael VII (the dark coin with a star) seems to be a Justin or Justinian I pre-reform follis.

I was in a hurry this morning and forgot to pick out the M year 2 follis (top right) and flip it over, to see what it is.

The Constans II coins will probably be the toughest to attribute. Most of these are darker in person.

That's a nice lot.
I got a multiple lot of byzantine coins and I must say it hasn't be relaxing at all trying to attribute them

 

98% of these are a difficulty 1/10. The only ones which might be a challenge are the Constans II's, mainly because I've never been interested in C II and don't know all that much about his Constantinopolitan coinage and/or the Arab-Byzantine imitations.
