Didn't you write 63 to 64 the first time?;)

I think a color bump to 65 is just plain crazy and just a sign of the times...lord have mercy for the Sheldon scale and the future of collecting!

Considering none of my others got a color bump, I would hesitate to call it a sign of the times. I've sent around 20 coins in over the last two years and this is the only color bump I received. I also had 4 coins (over that same period) that I thought were under graded without accounting for color and none of those went up.

Well then I honor the choice of the grader, however, I may not fully agree with their assignment, as I most sincerely disagree with many of their grades.

I've disagreed too on a number of coins. In this sub of 5, I understood 2 staying the same but the other 3 were more questionable (1 too high and 2 too low).

Thank you so much for your consideration of my opinions...I spend so much time comparing same and similar graded coins that I can't help but think that there are so many mis-graded coins on the market that the collector must not see the grade, but determine the correct designation for themselves...I have probably 150 slabed coins which I consider undergraded or the otherwise.

@ddddd My suggestion was correct so when do I get the million dollars? Cash or money order would be great thanks. Duh yeah right huh…

The upgrade was deserved. That coin has 65 surfaces, and at 63, was insanely undergraded. The color makes it a very desirable coin—the neon near monster toning is really special. If you are thinking of selling it, get it green beaned.

You get a million cointalk points. Good for as many guess the grade thread visits as you like. :)

It had a green CAC as a 63. If it were to get a CAC again, we could debate if it deserved a gold originally.

However, I don't plan on selling this one, so I have no rush to send it to CAC. I also don't have submission privileges with CAC, so I would need to have someone else send it in. Part of the reason I did a show sub was that I didn't want these coins traveling back and forth in the mail. It's usually safe, but I wanted to avoid the risk with some of my favorites.

Seems that lately, there has been some living of life again after a couple of years. I wish all the best to the folks that have endured the times we have been thru, I think we made the best of Lock Down.
I for 1, thank God that the restrictions seem so yesterday.
I still think that the surfaces say 64. I have a hard time seeing Gem.

I also have a hard time calling those surfaces gem. If they wanna say MS64 and the color bump goes to MS65, then ok but I wouldn't expect this coin to green bean at MS65.

Beg to differ. Under the beautiful toning, I see striations. On the reverse, I see striations. I think the coin got a dose of die polish—not enough to make it prooflike, but enough to leave die state marks. The coin has just a few contact marks. Die state should not affect the grade.

I didn't guess because I was tired of being wrong. It looks pretty banged up in the True View for a gem so 65 surprises me. I would have been wrong again.

I was surprised too but I’ll take it given the other more sure fire coins didn’t come through. I’ve sent three other common date Morgans with great color in (the reverse toner from this sub and two earlier examples) that all had better surfaces but none upgraded. I’m not sure what the reasoning was besides someone really liking the color on this particular one.
