The 2023 nickel I'm asking if this is an error and if not what is it?

The 1943 looks like damaged somehow but asking to be sure. Does anyone know what happened to it?

2023 looks like a die gouge or die break. 1943 is a lamination.

The 1943 is a lamination error and that’s very common in the silver war nickels.

Both legit - that's uncommon to find in a new thread here. Congrats.

Thank you for the help I will consult with the local coin shop on the 2023 to properly identify for my collection.
    Thank you for the help.
Thank you, hopefully I can do some more roll hunting before returning to work and find some more. BTW I also came across a 1989 P dime with die misalignment in very good shape

Agree, but I think the gouge is more likely a die break.

I couldn’t give it a full inspection last night. I was checking the site while rocking a toddler to sleep…. On reflection I agree with the gouge, a break would have gon to the rim.
