You can see where i was at with it. I wanted it just for the 2x2...
I messaged that seller, he told me that those coins were likely acquired in the 50s.
I was going to Snipe it for 600 but when it got into the 5s I knew it would take more. I tossed 600 out right before the end to drive them snipers wild. And it worked. When I sent it it was at 530 something I think. It immediately got that 596 bid. Then the snipers went wild.
It may date back to the 50s, but it was updated and priced no earlier than 1969 due to the Overton number on it.
Good point. I don't know what prices were for in the 50's, but bought quite a few originally sold in the 70's so this price would not have surprised me from that era. Could have been earlier, but if so the coin did not go up until the 80's from that price.
Does the older holder and pen writing contribute to the higher selling price?
I mean would someone pay more because it looks like it's been in that holder for 50 years?
Not from me. Its cool, but unless there is a provenance associated with it, (listing dealer lot number, auction number, etc), I do not see why it would be worth a premium.
