Hi everyone I found this 1998 in change today, and I'm trying to figure out what type of error it is. It looks like part of the edge is coming out, LOL I cant explain it . I doubt it would fetch any premium, I'm just what type of error it would be. Thanks
Actually, I think you found yourself a damaged novelty piece called a magician's coin. It will probably open up if you fiddle with it enough. It's not an error. Thanks, Bill
partially stuck out of collar. I think it might bring a small premium. If you don't want it, send it to me LOL. Congrats on your error find!
I didn't think it would bring much, but does anyone know if it is a common error, or harder to find? I hadn't even heard of this type of error until yesterday.
yes, a partially out of collar=a broad strike. Redbook lists a statehood broadstrike at $100.00. Yours is a partial, I'd say $5-$10, if your lucky.
I just found the same quarter without reeding. Anyone know if this is common? The other coin was discovered 16 years ago.
I found a 1998 rim error this week.Got my attention as it almost scratched my fingers, so I set it aside until I had time to look it up. My Dad is a numismatist, but he is out of state right now. Anyone interested in it? I'll try to remember to "fiddle with it" and see if it is a "magician's" quarter.
