    That looks like mechanical doubling.

    Hi,
I wouldn't rule it out. Tough to tell from the pics but could be.

I would have to say Machine/Strike doubling. The way the doubled image fades back into the letters is a classic sign. At least thats what I have been told in the past. I have numerous half dollars that look just like this. And since I could not identify a splitt seriff in any of the pics I have to say Machine Doubling.

Thanks for the feedback guys. My first impression was strike doubling, until I looked at the upper left part of the building, then I wasn't so sure. Then I noticed a small notch at the bottom of the left leg of the first A in America, which could be related to the scratch a little further to the left. If nothing else, it is a neat oddity and will stay in my collection. :)

As I just answered another question about Lincoln Cents, try coppercoins.com. Rather than a lot of maybe this or maybe that and could be this or could be that, just go there. The Guy that runs that web site is a Lincoln Cent expert and is always willing to help.

MSgt Lynch, I would also have to say strike doubling, but you could get it id'd through ANACS. Just a thought. Still I bet Ebay would fetch a pretty penny.
