Not a mint error of any kind.
Nothing but damage. Somebody sandwiched a couple coins and squeezed them in a vise. Notice the reversed LIBERTY. That's the giveaway.
It could have nothing to do with scamming..
Sometimes they are just bored. There are angry people with nothing better to do so they damage coins
The seller is probably not the one person that damaged the coin. They may have thought it was an error when they bought it and never found out or they found out and are trying to recover their costs.
Yeah. Why do kids put coins on railroad tracks? Cuz it sounds like the right thing to do. We used rocks and toys
