    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

IMO, that coin couldn't grade. It's completely covered with plating bubbles. It belongs in a penny jar, not in a 2x2.

Unless it cost you above face, it doesn't matter what the grade or value to anyone else is if you like the coin. As mentioned above, the plating issues are very common on the early Zlincolns and this certainly does not, generally speaking, add to the coin's appeal or value unless one questionably hawks as an "error" and hooks an unfortunate sucker. The point is that if you're just picking them out of circulation, and unless you're paying any premium for the coins, your opinion is really all that matters. However, if you're trying to learn grading, and unless you've access to large number of certified examples, perhaps it would be best to start with finding and examining as many photos as you can of graded specimens, and once you've started getting the hang of it, go back and pull a few coins from circulation, come up with your own grade, and then ask for opinions.

Well honestly I'm putting all the shiny ones I can in 2x2's just to protect them from any further damage. I am trying to figure out this grading thing... either way I'm keeping all the 1982 and earlier coins I find. I have plenty of circulated and ungraded coins to compare them to just didn't know what people thought of coins like this one. I still like the look of it. Looks much better in person than these pics. Unfortunately I don't have access to any graded ones yet... may have to buy some to better understand... seems like theres a lot to learn.
