    Shrews1994 Collecting is my passion.

The crease of the 7. The small date the 7 has a crease in it while the large date one doesn't. Thats a good way to tell too.

Large dates. Both. The loop of the 9 tells me this

Didn’t know that sis. And I have one in a mint set. Some day I’ll look.

As others have said, both images show a LD.

Here are some 1970 S SD (obverses only) LMC I have found over the past few years, hope this helps for comparison. Note the weakness in LIBERTY:

OMG it is so easy.... If the 7 is below the 9 and 0 it's a large date.

    You're very welcome.

It's not exactly as easy (at least, at first) to diagnose one of these, especially through mint cello. But once you've found a couple, or seen a few, it starts to get a lot easier. It eventually gets to the point where your eye says, "Ooh, smaller date than normal, weak LIBERTY, let me take a closer look..." instead of "Okay, starting from scratch, is the 7 level or not?" - because honestly sometimes at the wrong angle, with the wrong light, it can still occasionally be confusing for me. Not that I'm Wexler or Wiles or Snow or Potter (or anyone else) or that I'm even in their universe...but I have seen my fair share of die varieties. So that counts for something.

Forgive us "old coots" who might be less patient with beginners sometimes and who might forget the long road we took to get where we are.
