What do you guys think of this 1963 Proof Set? http://www.mrbrklyn.com/images/jul_30_2007/proof_set_3_1963_obverse_1.jpg http://www.mrbrklyn.com/images/jul_30_2007/proof_set_3_1963_reverse_1.jpg http://www.mrbrklyn.com/images/jul_30_2007/proof_set_2_1963_obverse_quarter_1.jpg http://www.mrbrklyn.com/images/jul_30_2007/proof_set_3_1963_dime_reverse_1.jpg
That one is rather nice, IMO. the otherone is decent as well. But I think it is hard to find really good proof sets. Does anyone grade sets in their original plastic? Ruben
It's a nice set, about average I'd say. Most of the coins would grade 65, one or two might go 66. No, no one that I know of will grade them in the pliofilm. NGC will however grade the set and place it in a multi-coin holder if you wish.
Thats a nice proof set Ruben, I however, have a question. If I were to send in a few of my 2007 Prez Dollar proof sets to NGC or PCGS for that matter do I leave them in the hard plastic that the mint sent them to me in or do I take them out? Do they then put graded proof sets like your 1963 set all in one holder or seperate ones?
You can do either. If you leave them in the mint package they will charge you $1 per coin to remove them and grade them. If you remove them yourself and submit in flips as per their instructions the will just grade them. They will do either. But you have to request the muti-coin holder and pay extra or they will slab them individually. And to the best of m knowledge onl NGC has the multi-coin holder.
One thing I notices is that the 1963 Proof Fraklin is such a poor strike. It looks like they would have needed to retire those Dies even without the Kennedy Assination. Ruben
