I like to think I am starting to get the hang of this error coin searching stuff. I would hope so at least because I have spent an exorbitant amount of time on my new hobby lately. I say hobby.. my friends say obsession... At least I think they do? I haven't seen them in a while But the one thing that keeps getting me is doubling. I've tried to learn all the different types there are and what they look like but I am not sure if I've really got an eye for it yet. I'm hoping it will eventually click In the meantime I've got your eyes! I have this 1960 cent and I feel like it may be doubling? The splits at the tips of the letters is what I am hanging my hat on here. What do you guys think? And if it is machine or other less valuable types of doubling please let me know what to look for. Im eager to learn. Thanks again for your help! Also, If the pictures are not clear let me know. I'm experimenting with a milk jug light filter, my iphone camera and a Loupe lol
I see what you are talking about. There is definitely a split on the tail of the 9 and the top of the ST of TRUST. I can't find a match on coppercoins. Non cents will know. I would love to see clearer pics. I know how hard it is if you don't have equipment to make it simple. I was in the same boat a few of weeks ago. It looks very interesting though!
Thanks for the input Jay! Yea! I checked coopercoins as well and didnt find anything. Kind of through me off lol. I am setting some stuff up now to try and take a better picture. I should have them up soon.
There are varying strengths of both master die doubling and engraving doubling present on 1960 cents. I feel that this is one of them, though I am not 100% sure. Keep up the hunt!
