This is my newest addition to the family..... On a scale of 1 to 10 I would say she's a 9.5, but what do you think Sheldon would say?

    Nice coin.
    Good strike.
    I see it as unc.
The abrasions on the cheek and in the fields probably keeps it to a MS-63 or maybe a -64.

Sheldon wouldn't say anything, he only graded large cents.

    But, still a nice coin.

Dr Sheldon would say that the 70 point grading system was designed for 1793 through 1814 large cents, not Peace Dollars.

All that aside, you got yourself a nice Uncirculated coin.

Ok then... what is the MS of this coin, guess. You guys are too smart for me. I was just trying to be mildly humerous. hehe

I would personally grade it MS-65. But that's not uncommon for a 1923 Peace Dollar.

Pretty good for a 1923-S though.... which is what this coin is.

The price spread between a 64, and a 65 on this coin is well over $6,000. Over $7,000 if you use the PCGS price guide.

It all depends on whose standards you want us to apply. DH claim that PCGS' standarde are tighter than NGC. According to the CDN, coins of the alleged same grade are selling for different amounts so there must be a difference somewhere in the grade because the coin isn't changing based on the slab it's in.

OK, I'll tell you what I think. MS70 by SGS.

Grading is subjective by nature. You are subjectively saying that a company (SGS) will apply a subjective grade thereby adding another layer of opinion.

I just want your grade dude. This is for fun, and I value everyone's opinion.

Beaty of a coin no lower than 64 probably a 65 , would go higher if it didn't have those cheek rubs , nice strike too .

I'm just an amateur, but I would say 63. Some portions make me wonder if it would hit that, but like I said, I'm just an amateur.

Well I just got the coin in today.... It is graded MS 64 by DGS.....

I may be on the verge of a little experiment that would be beneficial to evryone on the forum....

I haven't decided whether or not to do it yet..

Here is what I am thinking:

Acquire a group of nice looking coins graded by DGS, crackem, and send them to NGC to see what grade they are returned with.

So far I have purchased this Peace Dollar, and an 1834 CBH AU53.

Based on responses so far, I think the Peace Dollar may be overgraded, and the CBH may be undergraded.

    Still contemplating........:headbang:
