Does anyone know why the US Mint did not make any 1922 cent coins at the Phiadelphia Mint for that year? Did the US Mint do this with any other years/coins? What was going on that particular year that coins were not minted? Either in Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, West Point? And, which coins were NOT made for any particular year?
    Thank you.

Philadelphia not only halted the cent for 1922, but also the nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar. All of the Mints that year, Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco were busy minting boat loads of silver dollars in 1922. West Point was initially used as a storage for silver bullion when it was built in 1937. Then from 1973 to 1986 West Point produced cents and strictly gold medallions after that. West Point didnt officially become a United States Mint until 1988 producing gold and silver commemoratives and American Eagle Bullion and Platinum in 1997.
