I have had a collection of various coins for twenty years or so and never really paid much mind to values or anything. Recently I came across a 1920 Nickel that was said to have been struck on a penny planchet. My 1919 appears to be the same. I have only been able to find two such critters that are brown like mine one is a 1918 that was sold at auction recently by Heritage and the other a 1920 that listed on ebay. Is it possible that I could have one and what do I do to have it authenticated. Is there a test to determine if this is what I have. If so what kind of value might I be looking at? Thanks Anyone
Howdy gritman - Welcome to the Forum !! I moved your thread to a different section of Coin Talk - it'll get a better response here. I can't offer any info on your coin off the top of my head, but I'll start checking and see what I can find. Someone else may have just the answer you're looking for Meanwhile - can you post pics of this coin ?

Pretty easy to tell if it's a nickel struck on a cent planchet. If it weighs 3.11 grams, then that's what it likely is. If it weighs 5 grams, then it's likely just a discolored nickel, or possibly a copperwash, or sintered planchet error.
