    ~27.2mm; 10.0gm; smooth edge; copper?

    Pairs of initials...Mint-marks?
Obverse: H.L. at the foot of the shield; Reverse: T.A. beneath 1850. Also there: a wee circle (ball?) with a cross atop.

I have a sister-in-law living in Schleshwig Holstein, so this may become hers.

I probably paid too much for it...confirmation of that will be accepted as just one more lesson.

    Thanks!

OK. A week has passed, over 80 views of this coin...and, aside from Ripley's like, nary a word!

What have I done that begs for undoing, here? I know!!

I hinted at what I paid, but postponed full disclosure until after an authoritative evaluation from this forum; My Bad.

$40. There! I'm exposed in my folly...my head bloody, but unbowed!

Otherwise, pics are good enough...the coin is only 163 years old, so it's gotta be somewhat familiar to many of you regulars...and there is certainly enough detail to work with.

Or...maybe it's so common as to be unworthy of comment? C'mon, folks...

    Thanks, Rip!

$40 is not a bad price. I over pay for world coins that are not easily found so I can own them and move on to the next target. $40 is 2 trips to McD with the kids. $40 is one movie and popcorn.

    Date area dings

The coin has numerous wee dings like the one you mention...I see no evidence of fix-effort at any of them.

And the significance of the letters and symbol?

I've heard from Sister...I'll be keeping this one.

These pics are at the limit of my ability, using a hand-held older Lumix DMC-LZ7, no flash.

    Nice! :thumb: !
The was a coin shop in Berlin that had a pair of MS-65RB 1850+1851.
1988 they were $500.00 for the pair. after looking thru Ngc pg I should have made him an offer!!!

In the original picture the area I mentioned had a funny scuffed up appearance, that is not there on the new pics you posted. Must have been an effect of the lighting or something.
