1848 5 lire italiane

    all the coins that I have seen say on it
    Obverse ITALIA LIBERA DIO LO VOULE WITH .mint mark Is M.
    reverse 5 LIRE ITALIANE 1848 GOVERNO PROVISORIO DI LOMBARDIA.

    on my coin the mint mark is M but the rest doesn't match at all.

    I will be glad to hear from you ,history and value.

    This is a souvenir or novelty piece modeled on the revolutionary 5 lire with imaginary legends. As often as this coin pops up in "whatzit" threads, I still haven't seen anyone with much more info on it beyond that. Definitely modern, likely from the 70s, worth maybe 5-10 bucks as a novelty.

    Surprisingly this isn't in the Unusual World Coins book yet...

    Have you found anymore information on your coin.Do you know what it is worth.I have the same coin.I would like to find some info on it as well.
