If it left the mint that way, is it really damaged?
Of course they do. However, I will wager that is not the case with this coin. It appears the coin was toned with the fingerprint suggesting it's...
It does appear to be a fingerprint to my eye, and there's no reason why PCGS should body bag a coin with one, IMO. Certainly, it should be taken...
Um, it was a GSA coin. While it doesn't appear to be a reed mark, where else would it have gotten such a hit if not in the bag it was stored in?
I would say the vast majority of pre 1870 coins have been cleaned. 1970 is stretching it, IMO. When it comes to cleaning, and IMO, the key is...
If you would post larger pics of the obverse and reverse, we might be able to attribute the variety (and therefore its rarity).
A full shot of the obverse and reverse would confirm the variety (and thus date size/type), but it appears to be a small date.
Thanks! :)
Same game, different coin. What do you think PCGS will grade this coin (or if you think they won't, why)? [img] [img] Here's a bit of a hint...
OK, guys I've been slacking. You might recall the first 5 coins of this submissions discussed in prior threads. Basically, the coins were...
Um, when were the GSA coins like this one graded? I thought it was quite some time ago.
There are many proofs. Here are a few for comparison sake:...
63bn
65 rd, claims to 66
I say Mike and G flip a half disme to decide who's right. lol
He has indeed. He also has the coin in-hand, a HUGE advantage. Here's looking forward to a 63 grade and us both being wrong. :)
Can you retake the photos not at an angle, but directly perpendicular to the coin? My first reaction was the coin's color appears quite...
I have a bad feeling. PCGS altered surfaces or improper cleaning is my guess. I hope I'm wrong, but the coin appears to me to be overdipped....
NGC graded GSA coins aren't exactly the pinnacle of conservative grading.
Divide by between 2 and 4.
