Now that clear pictures have been shown, I can see it is a doubled die. I guess I was looking at the machine doubling on the opposite side.

Definitely doesn't look like a doubled die. What you have shown shows mostly shelf doubling. Here's a true doubled die. [IMG] Notice the split serifs.
