In 1988 I paid $1000 for a 1917 D type II quarter I then send it to PCGS and it came back MS65. IMO...The coin should have graded 65 FH.

Yes, you are correct b/c if not for the scratches on the cheek the coin would be out of the slab by now..;) I have had probably cracked 10 coins...
I was browsing Ebay and I noticed that sellers are asking $400-$500 over gray sheet bid for PCGS MS63-MS64 $5-$10 gold pieces. Nowadays do sellers...
Yes, if not for the scratches I would crack it and shoot for a 65. I paid $700 for the coin.

I purchased this MS65 1906-D in the mid 90's and I'm too embarrassed to say what i paid for the coin. I also purchased an MS64 on the same day.....

i didn't paid 65 money for the coin, b/c back then before the market crashed, PR 64 were trading for like $3,900 and PR 65 were probably like...
