I've been searching but have yet to find one. Bear in mind though that the only ones I search are the ones that turn up in change/mixed rolls. The variety does not interest me enough to seek out rolls of 1988's(especially given the lack of other significant varieties for this year) so I certainly don't search enough '88's to find many. I'd be interested in knowing if those who have found them specifically sought out rolls of 1988's to search through or if they were found on the random 1988 one finds in change/mixed rolls. My guess is that they are probably out there in numbers comparable to the 1998 and 2000 WAMs. That's just a guess though without any evidence to support it.

I found mine from searching through $25 boxes(bricks) from only one bank. But at a box a week for 2 1/2 years:
    130 bricks X 2500 cents/brick = 325,000 cents to finfd one 1988 P rdv-006. Not to mention that:
130 bricks X $25 per brick = $3,250.00 ------ but most of this was recycled back to the bank.

I own a D, graded AU55 by ANACS (1 of 2 or 3 known) I am not clear if mine was included in the current population report or yet to be added.

I understand there is another D XF 45 that has not shown on the report ?

According to the various sites I have visited researching the D that I have found. They are much more rare than the WAMS and the Denver is considered rarer than the 1992 D CAM. There is no proof of complete die runs although there is no proof that my theory the dies were changed during the runs. To date thousands of WAMS have been found but only a very few of the 88/89 cents. All the Denver coins are owned by 5 people I believe.

The Denver is listed on the LRC site as "Scarce", while none of the WAMS are.

    Gary,

Thanks for that information. I knew there were much fewer reported, but I wonder how much of that has to do with the fact that it is not as well known as the WAMS and far fewer people are even searching for them?

This is much discussed, however I think Wexler has posted information on the number of die varieties, etc. It looks like the WAM are not as rare as thought. Transitions coins are always problematic because the mint will not release any numbers. But today, there just haven't been many found and according to a couple of collectors who claim to know a lot about these things, aren't likely to be.

Me.....I can wait and see. I really doubt I will ever find another and each box I search is diluted with more and more of the things I am NOT looking for. LOL

Just remember with that SUV to never clean it, but merely conserve it!

As a note, the Lincoln Resource Site lists the top 50 varieties. The WAM's are listed, but the 1988/89 D is listed under the heading "Extremely Rare". How this is determined is beyond my comprehension, but will let the guys who know do their thing.

For fun I added the mintages of Cents from 1980-2010, took the Wexler die numbers and did an estimate if each die ran 1,000,000 coins. I came up with 1/57000+ cents. But if you start adding the other coins still found in rolls, the numbers start climbing.....a lot !

Then, if during transition, the reverse dies were placed, then boxes of 89 obverse dies opened and put in place, the runs could have been greatly curtailed ? And if full runs were made, there would be twice as many of them an 2009 LP4. I find LP4's in nearly every roll. LOL
