...May have been caught in the dryer since '76 lol.

Any of you weirdos collect really sweet dryer coins?! :hilarious:

I think it is other damage. Dryer coins I have seem have rolled edges, not tapered rims.

And here's a weird example I acquired from a Industrial Dryer repair shop in my neighborhood..

    Only one side was affected

It has the look of a dryer coin but look again, the design is too perfect for a dryer coin. I like it but it’s too sharp and perfect so I think it was deliberately made.

If only "dryer coin" was an attribution?!!
Then we could REALLY get into it!

Should I get some scope images?
Maybe see if I can get it on the PCGS sniffer?

...I can tell by the angles of the swirls and the shape of the edge and which details were left on the drummer's face...that it was most certainly stuck in a Whirlpool Imperial Spin Dryer. Which is nice, because Whirlpool spun coins hold a higher premium than say Kenmore, Maytag, or even Frigidaire (GM).

I've been able to determine that about late October 1978 when the coin originally fell out of a pair of red corduroy bell-bottom pants, it was somewhere in North East Indiana.
It was then recovered in 2016 when the dryer finally broke down and was found by the great great grand child of the original coin owner when their neighbor, Bob, came over and opened the back. The 8 year old went to the corner store and promptly bought a Hershey bar with it. The coin had been making it's way to Denver ever since :pompous:o_O

No matter how it was damaged, I think the wear pattern leaves an interesting design. I'd certainly hang on to it. Heck, if I won the lottery, I'd even have it graded. LOL

This is my only dryer coin. I still have it, thought it was an error at one point. (reverse unaffected)

Pulled this from a dryer myself. Have seen many variations of damage on dryer coins.
