Found this 1987 P quarter while CRH-ing and thought I'd ask y'alls opinion. The obverse has a significantly raised portion both in front of and behind Washington's wigged melon. The surface is mottled and pitted (which makes me thinks acid) but those areas are raised. Welding or solder makes no sense as the profile of Washington's nose is still sharp. There are not any corresponding divots on the reverse where the protrusions are on the obverse, but the reverse is kinda gnarly as well. The edge has one area where it looks like it was rolled over. There are no obvious delaminations. I'm stumped so I'd like to see what you think.
its just damage an acid reaction or it was left in the oven for to long aka exposed to high heat for some time.
