Good day all, my father gave me a load of specimen bills from around the world about 15 years ago and I'm considering selling them. However, it seems every time I contact a coin or bill shop they either don't know what I'm talking about or tell me "no one wants bills from Swaziland I'll give you ten cents." I live in the middle of nowhere so actually taking the time to drive 2 hours to a collector's shop is a pain just to be disappointed. I have seen bills like mine online and on auction sites, but that's no gauge of value. So being that I am not a paper money collector, is it worth my time and effort to try to sell these bills or are they actually not worth much. to give you an idea of the kinds of bills I have I have uploaded some pics, these are just a sampling in total I have between 35 and 60 bills some are matched sets by serial number. All are uncirculated. Thanks for your time!
Interesting stuff. I looked in ebay, they seem to command a respectable price, not great, two to two and a half digits. Could be hot for a world note collector. Maybe even as placeholders. Frankly, I don't imagine there would be much interest in the entire lot other than at wholesale prices. But then, I'm not a paper money collector either.
Individuals that tell you they have no value are either misinformed or trying to steal them from you at a low price. They do have collector value. How much? I have no clue, but some well known companies offer to buy such items and you can ask them to evaluate and give a price and then if you wish, simply mail them to them. Thanks all, I think I will break them up into sets and post them to eBay. All good answers. if anyone wants to see all the bills, I'll let you know when they are online and you can take a look, some very pretty art and colors.
These were a Franklin Mint product called Banknotes of the World. They are not true printers specimens. There were 73 notes in the complete set. That having been said, they are still collectible and have some value. Some, like Gibraltar, will go for more than others. The entire set goes for about $1,250.00.
