This brings me to two left to a complete set of Washington-Carvers. I was a bit hesitant on this one based on the seller's pics, but had faith in the TPG. I'll post my photos with the reveal. So what do you think the grade is?
I'm going to match the same MS 65 guess I had on the Booker ....one reeding hit on the reverse and a few ticks on the obverse (cheeks/noses) are the only potential grade limiters that I notice
Those pictures make it look like a 63. If it is nicer in hand, I might change my mind with different/better pictures.
64. The surface preservation is nice and clean, but luster is somewhat muted. That prevents it from being gem grade.
So this coin was essentially an add-on to the '47 BTW I also posted. The seller's photos show a dull, lifeless, grey coin, but I had some faith in PCGS that the coin in hand would be what they say it was, and it's close. In hand, none of that grey is visible, unless the light hits it a certain way. I still can't get the grey to show throughout the coin like the seller's pics show. It's a 99.99% white coin in hand under almost all lighting angles. It does actually have strong luster, but doesn;t show in either sets of photos. All in all, it's what I expected; a 64 in a 65 holder. Only @ddddd got the grade correct, but I think he was being generous based on his knowledge of what I like. I see the coin as a high 64, or a low 65.
