I just figured since I haven't seen it before, an Ugliest coin thread would be fun. Post your ugly, and I mean UGLLYYYYY coin in the spirits of Halloween! I don't have one yet, or I would
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One person's trash is another person's treasure. Hallowe'en is a beautiful time of year. It is rooted in the cyclical system of seasonal change, death and rebirth as recognized by human agricultural and astronomical observation throughout history. It is the eve of All Saints as utilized by certain faiths. Hallowe'en's modern American commercialized form promotes ugliness as portrayed through horror and fear of the dead, Hollywood B-movie zombies and brutality as witnessed in society. Hallowe'en is also a modern excuse for costumed parties that spoof popular culture and revel in letting loose inhibitions (nothing wrong with that) but are completely debased from the origins of the seasonal celebration. This is not Hallowe'en but rather personal expression and a general 'joie de vivre'. Personally, no coin is 'ugly' to me and so I have none to offer in that sense. There are also a number of threads (recently active as well) on the subject of 'ugly' coins. Just have to search for them if you were looking to add to them. I'm curious to see what the OP will post as an example of an 'ugly' coin in the spirit of Hallowe'en. Happy Hallowe'en!
Howabout we mix it up a bit? What's your BEST ugliest coin? PB Tessera from Ephesus, Ionia c. 1st-2nd cent AD 3.0 gm, 17mm Cult statue of Artemis Ephesia Greek legend around Victory advancing l. Unpublished
Ok, heres mine. Just found this nice little toner on the bathroom floor the other day. Notice the subtle shades of grimy brown, corrosion green, and some other color or substance that defies description. Guy~
LOL! That bugs me too. There are several members who have pics that always post gigantically! I appreciate the large scale image, but it throws the browser window out of whack. BTW, I'm not certain, but I think you can limit the size of images that appear in the threads in your USER CP under Edit Options > Thread Display Options.
Yes I know I do, how many times has someone requested better larger images? The forum shrinks them down quickly until you click on them as you know. What is the problem? (just asking... not being sarcastic)
I don't know why people complain about them. I have no problems with them. I did back when I had dial up though, lol. By the way PersianGuy, I don't think that coin you posted was that bad.
I just don't like this coin, the pictures in the auction listing made it look a lot less corroded and not as dark. To me it's hideous. I never have a problem with large images after the 2 seconds it takes for the forum to shrink them down. Personally I love a high quality image when someone posts a coin, so that I can really see the details. It's worth the wonky screen 1 second delay.
While some may actually find this coin attractive, I know others will not and I submit this coin as the highest graded in this thread. Worthy of an honorable mention perhaps.
Wow folks, these are some gosh awful looking coins. Just how I intended for them in this thread Keep em coming. Man, this thread couldn't get any uglier!
