I just signed up for subcription several days ago for the 2009 Silver Proof Set and the 2009 Uncirc. Set. The policy states that I will now receive all future proof and mint sets. Does this mean I won't have the choice what sets I want or don't want? Also, checking just my account now, 6:45am, it says the sets were shipped 5/05/2009. So I'm looking forward to getting them but would like my question answered. THANKS! zeke:rolling:

You have subscribed to receive these products automatically. That's what a subscription does, it says you know you will want the product, so just send it as soon as its available.

And yes I'm pretty sure it means you will get the 2010, 2011, 2012 etc sets unless you cancel your subscription.

Also since I'm fairly sure the sets you subscribed to have not actually gone on sale yet, don't pay too much attention to that comment that they have been shipped. The subscription thing has a funny way of showing up on your order page. It's basically just a way they have of showing that you have ordered it.

I too signed up for the silver proof subscription and found it confusing when I received an order shipped e-mail. Apparently that is how they confirm that your subscription is in effect. The dollar amount will be $0.00. The real shipment notice will have the purchase price (plus shipping) on it.

I decided to cancel all my subscriptions last year. Every time a new product was released that I subscribed to, I was paying 4.95 in shipping each time. That adds up to a lot of cash when you think about the Reg proof set, silver proof set, unc set, ASE and each of the FDCs that I get (9). In total, I paid close to $65 in shipping costs for items that have no production limits or limits that traditionally have not been met when I should be paying much, much less. So now I just order my stuff as I place orders for items not on the subscription lists such as the commemorative coins. In all, I probably now save close to $40.... and thats another coin!

To all of the above---THANKS! You made it clear and what I also thought the subscription meant. But it also seemed that I was responsible for everything else this year as the release dates occurred.
Jacer, just received notice from the mint that they are combining my orders in one shipment, therefore I only have to pay $4.95 once. Ain't they nice. How would they work it if the release dates werte far apart? I should have somehow attached the notice for all to read. zeke

Now this I would like to see! I hope you are correct and this is truly what they said, but that is so not mint like.

Personally, I think what they were trying to say was that all the orders on the same ticket will be combined and only one postage fee will be charged. For example, if I purchased the Lincoln proof dollar, Lincoln unc dollar, Wash DC FDC and Lincoln rolls..... then these all will fall under a one shipping charge policy....even if they are all shipped at different times, you only pay shipping once. But if you have 5 subscriptions and they all ship at different times during the year, then I am afraid that you will have to pay $4.95 each time.

For your sake I hope I am wrong, but this is how they have been doing it for several years now and as recently as last year. Keep us posted.

Yep , I think you got it right.:
Greetings from the United States Mint
The following subscription has been updated at your request as a result of maintenance by the United States Mint.
As part of this maintenance we are consolidating multiple orders for the same product so that shipping and handling charges to the cusdtomer are minimized when subscriptions are fulfilled."
