I decided to build a Franklin half dollar collection (I've always loved them!). Where is a good place to get information about them? Any articles or books? I'd love to have a book on them to add to my coin library, but when I searched on amazon, I didn't see any up to date ones. Can y'all recommend some books? Also, any words of wisdom about collecting Franklins?

I would contact the California State Numismatic Association at calcoin.org or call them and request a copy of the article titled: Through the Numismatic Looking Glass, by Dr. Thomas Fitzgerald, dated Summer 2006, Volume 3 Number#2

also ref books to locate are : Franklin Half Dollars by Lyman L. Allen ; and Treasure Hunting Franklin Half by the same author. Good Hunting!

You may want to check out Rick Tomaska's site (www.ricoins.com) as well. He has written a guide book on Franklins and just released the second edition of the book.

I LOVE Franklins and have only 2 missing spots in my Dansco, 1949 (P), and 1953 S. There are a couple more I want to upgrade as well.

Of course, the bottom line on Franklins is bell lines. Gotta have those lines!

    Happy hunting...
