Picked this piece up several months ago. Suspected it was AT but I do not know. A did not pay any type of premium forthe toning so I was ok with it but would like to know if this is AT or Natural? That being said please comment and don't hold back, I won't be offended. LOL

I'm not sure. It's so uniform, I would be inclined to go with AT...it looks too perfect. But, I could be wrong.

I'm curious about the coin. It appears to be an uncirculated silver.

As for the toning, I would have to ask what media was it stored in, do you know? Of course if it was subjected to the right heat and or sun light it could have started this toning it its original packaging from the mint.

It would appear to have been in a coin book, which are great for causing the toning process to start. If so it is NT. It should continue to tone over the coming years.

I have a set of Statehood Quarters that I keep in a coin book and in only the last five years they have begun to tone nice like your coin. Yes, I am a fan of toned coins, rainbow toned coins.

    Nice coin, thanks for sharing.

Because the toning has started from the rim to the inside the catalyst of the toning was because of the surrounding environment.

When coins are AT'd they are usually done so over the majority if not the entire surface of the coin. That's why I say this one is NT.

This was also my first impression. It's coin album NT. Very nice coin.

I've actually seen several coins that have toned exactly like this. The coins were stored in a Whitman coin book for years. The only thing that makes me wonder is that the toning is only on one side. Couple of marks on the neck overall a nice coin.

I have no idea. Could be AT or NT IMO.

Believe me...I'm the first one to throw down the AT flag.

I've seen plenty of beautifully-toned Ikes (including one very sinful one that I saw sold for $20 last week that I might've paid $50 for.) Just going by the pics, I think yours is NT.

Thanks to all that replied. So what I gather is there really is no way of knowing for sure and if I send it to a TPG and they just don't think it's NT but are not sure they either body bag or place questionable toning on the label even though it maybe 100% natural!
