This coin has not been graded and is in the original government holder. What is your opinion? Thanks.

    I'd say MS-63* , tpgs would give it a 64 , nice coin for a GSA '82-CC ,

That coin has great fields. I would say ms-64 but most tpg would give it a ms-65. Unfortunately not the greatest luster but i cant tell if thats just because of the picture

Very nice looking Morgan. I'm gonna go with MS63 due to some scarpes on Liberty and what looks like some hazing on the Rev.

I bet a TPG would give you a 64, maybe 5. For some reason, Morgan scrapes always look much worse in photos than in hand. At least my photos.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

    64. cheek not clean enough for a higher grade, imo.

    I'll vote 64 with potential for a 65

Thats a 65 - They will assign that because of the fields and luster on this coin are pretty impressive except for a little haze. The cheek in this case of a "cc" will not be much of an issue as its just a few abrasions and no real 'hits' per se to detract from it.
A very nice coin - congrats

It can't be AU , it's a GSA CC UNC. they never left the bags they were shipped in .

It's never left the GSA, can't be AU.

Looking at it in hand, and comparing it to PCGS/NGC Morgans that I have, it looks like it would easily be a 63, possibly a 64. That is without a possible bump for being a CC.

Sorry, I should have read more carefully. Been reading coin collecors survival manual and getting very picky. Changing to 63.

    Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

That is not a valid argument. The GSA sales consisted of both circulated and uncirculated coins and many cases the bags contained both circ and unc coins. When separating the coins for sale, they used people who had little if any experience with coins and thus could not tell a circulated piece from an uncirculated piece. Many of the coins were therefore mislabeled in the sales holders.

Has there been any GSA certified coins that actually did not make the
MINT STATE grade. I have not seen any but would , I think , be a rarity itself to certain collectors.
I think Circulatd Morgans were packaged in blue if I am not mistaken ...

Yeah, but not in original holders, at least not one that I have ever seen. You have to remember that they were not slabbed in original holders for almost 20 years.

There were several types of holders among the soft packs and the hard packs. Not all of the hard packs said Uncirculated on them either and were supposed to contain circulated coins. But quite a few of those have been certified as MS. Even some of the coins in the soft packs have been certified as MS.
