I don't know anything about these - but it looks like I see a slight touch of wear, so I will stick with AU-58. Sweet - very sweet.

I'm right on the fence, but I say MS60? Looks like the rim at 12 O'Clock is a little banged up, but definitely a beautiful coin. I love that St. Gaudens too btw.:thumb:

Lots of breaks in the luster but I don't see much wear. I'll venture AU-55 to 58.

    NICE coin!!

I hope the coin is graded 55 or 58, but suspect it is in an MS holder.

That said, I don't look at or follow these coins closely, so the above is just a wild guess.

Whatever the grade, that's a to-die-for coin, that I would be happy with a VG. :D

I'm gonna say MS63. Even if that coin has wear and is technically AU, I bet it was market graded into an MS holder just like Mike fears.

I want to say 60 but this looks a bit better than the 60's i've seen so i'm going 61.

It looks like a very high AU to me, but given the scarcity and the beauty of this coin- virtually unmarked!- I bet it gets MS63. That's a stunner!

i bet it gets a ms63 even though think i see abit of wear.

Did anyone else cringe when they saw that coin in the NGC holder? It looked like the holder was pushing in the edges.

I've gotten where I don't try to grade coins from photos anymore. It's hard to tell whether something is a minor luster break or just shadow.

If AU, it's a solid AU58. With that luster and those fields ? Heck yeah. 58 fo sho.

If MS, solid 62, maybe 3.

    I'll just say AU63 ! ;)

i agree. and since leadfoot has decided he will die for the coin, give em the coin he wont be needing it after his vacation in heaven :D

btw brother leadfoot i had found one too but it went for 14k and i dint want to spend more than 10k so i never got it maybe some other time :)

Zane I gotta say - you're making me work here pal ! Lot's of killer coins you've been posting.

I gotta say AU55 on this, too much luster gone to be otherwise. And even with their value grading, I just don't see how they could ignore the rim dent at 12 o'clock.

What do think I'll say ? I'll say they screwed up of course. A rim dent of that severity precludes any MS grade.

Doesn't look like a rim dent to me -- or if it is, it doesn't look THAT bad -- perhaps a photographic artifact?

Photographic artifact ? I find it curious as to how a photograph could create such an effect.
