This could prove to be VERY interesting: Famous British Shipwreck HMS Victory Discovered by Salvagers
NBC's The Nightly News with Brian Williams had a story on this tonight. Sounds exciting! We enjoy watching "Treasure Quest" on The Discovery Channel, it's a weekly series about shipwreck exploration. It's on Thursday night @ 10 p.m.
i recorded treasure quest on discovery and for a subject that i find interesting reading about it the show is very boring at least to me. THey basically just reapeat what they have already said and they spread out the exciting parts so thin over the show that it just isnt very engrossing
Interesting. Seen a show on the Odyssey on tv, they brought a few cannon up from a sunken french warship.
How do you know they'll get it? Does the law of "finder's keepers" work in this case? Are the Oddassy people going to tell the British government where the gold is without an agreement? I doubt it very much.
Military ships follow different rules. As is it a british Military ship it belongs to us. If it was a ferry or something which went down with all that gold...then yes finders keepers. I'm sure they will be rewarded however.
I just found this at time.com, it's dated yesterday Source: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1876515,00.html
It's great when lost ships are found, not just for the historical or salvage, but to learn more about past accounts and weather. From what I gather, this ship was found "in the wrong place".
Hi Guys, Part 2 of the show on The Discovery Channel about this shipwreck comes on at 10 p.m. tonight. It's called "Return To The Legend." http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-schedules/series.html?paid=1.15776.25703.37634.8
I'm pleased that it was noted that it was HMS Sussex and not HMS Victory. HMS Victory is in dry dock at Portsmouth Harbour
