    Jazz,

To view the Eagle's tail feathers, Jose would have to remove the plastic holder from the Cheerios "Promotion" backing card which would severely effect the value of the two coin set as a whole as well as the Sacagawea Dollar's value!

    Jose,

I really want to see the new pictures soon! However, based on the pictures of the Die Polish marks on the "Pattern" Dollar at the link that I provided, I believe that your' coin is a "Pattern" Dollar. I could be wrong but with blowing up the picture by 200%, it appears that the same Die Polish marks are on your' coin.

    Jim,

That is a great informative Thread that everyone that ships coins, needs to know! Thanks!

Another little overlooked tidbit when shipping High Dollar coins is the fact that the USPS actually has a Policy concerning Insurance Claims for lost or stolen items. Technically, they are not suppose to pay on Insurance Claims for lost or stolen coins unless they are sent via Registered Mail. However, I have found that for Claims on items there were generally insured for $1,000 or less, they will actually pay but don't hold your breath while waiting on a check for reimbursement on claims of $2,000 and above. You might get lucky but if the person or persons processing the claim knows or follows the USPS' Policy, then you will get nothing. I have found that the large majority of the USPS employees are unaware of the Policy but if you call the Hotline, they will verify that it exists. This Policy can be found buried in all of their' Policies, Rules and Regulations if you are very tenacious and don't mind shifting through pages, and pages, and pages and more pages of USPS BS.

So my advise to everyone here, is to not only insure but also to send High Dollar coins via Registered Mail.

Okay I knew taking coin photos can be a pain. But this is the best I can do with the camera I got.

First of all, I love that 2 coin Cherrios set from NGC in the link that Jim posted.

Second, Frank there are only 5000 of the Goodacre presentation pieces slabbed by IGC. If I remember the story correctly, the owner of IGC is a good friend of Goodacre and convinced her to have them slabbed. I can't remember if he had anything to do with her choosing the $5000 payment in Sacs or not, but I believe he may have had some advice to give her on that choice. Out of the 5000 that she had slabbed, Goodacre released half to ICG to be sold. I have actively been bidding for one of these and have gone as high as $800 on a reslabbed ICG to PCGS one. Sounds crazy for a modern coin, but I do really like Sacs.

The Cherrios pattern would be the grand daddy of all cherry picks!

Jose, I don't get jealous or envious over anyone's coins.... but I would have to say that I am quite smitten with your find.

I would encourage you to check out the Cheerios dollar page on www.SmallDollars.com and read carefully the part about PCGS slabbing. Appaprently, they may not designate it as a Cheerios dollar if it does not have the special design elements.

DO NOT REMOVE THE COIN FROM THE PACKAGE WHATEVER YOU DO.....Send it to NGC if it doesn't slab as the pattern then atleast it will still get the Cheerios designation. If it does slab as a pattern then you can cross it over to a pcgs holder. That is what I would do.

That's the best advice I've heard (even better than mine).

I agree with that idea - start with NGC.

    Jose,

The pictures are no help in determing if the Sacagawea Dollar is the rare Pattern Dollar! You might try using the Macro Setting on your Camera (the one with Tulip)! If you unable to do so, then try taking the picture by holding a magnifying glass or Gem Loupe at the end of your Camera's lens. Also, before posting the pictures to Coin Talk, crop out everything in the picture except the Sacagawea Dollar.

With these two photos I tried the the Loupe with the macro setting . But I am having a hard time with the lighting. Also the plastic is a bit dotty/pitted.

Really hard to tell in the pictures but I would definitely get NGC or PCGS to look at it. I think I can see the telltail area but again it could be a reflection from the plastic. In hand is what is needed here. They can be distinguished by the Obverse of the coin and verified on the Reverse. Again. DO NOT TAKE IT OUT OF THE HOLDER. Might be worthwhile to contact Tom DeLorey regarding this coin, he seems to be the man in the know about them if you dont want to go the TPG route.

I also think that I can see the tell-tale area of Die Polish marks! It appears that there are Die Polish marks extending from Sacagawea's coat, Northeastward towards the "P" Mintmark. It would really be nice if the pictures and information at the link about determining if it is a Pattern or Non-Pattern Dollar, were better!

Thanks for the new pictures Jose!

Thanks for all the information. Sorry for not replying earlier had slight trouble with my computer. I decided not to submit it myself but go with an authorized dealer. Though I am a bit limited with my choices. Their is a pcgs/ngc dealer but by appointment only. The another shop in town is owned by the previous person along with another person. Which ever service I pick I am going to try to get the photo service. Once again thanks for all the replys.

Is there a way to tell what coin is in an unopened box of cheerios by weight? I just bought a box of 2000 Cheerios and I would like to tell by the weight what is in it without opening it. Is there a way to tell what is in it? Can it be x-rayed for a cheap cost. (I believe the seller knew how to see inside without opening) I dont want to open it unless i really have to as I believe somehow there has to be a way to tell without opening the box. Thanks!

    I d
I don’t think anyone has taken the time to weigh the boxes but I don’t know how accurate that would be. X-ray would be helpful if you have access to one. I work in a cardiac lab so access to X-ray would be easy for me but probably not for most.

I hope u didn’t pay too much for the box!

I am thinking an xray would show either a large coin or a small one
