    So looking at this 1983 cent...it looks like there is something between the 9 and the 8. Or am I seeing thing?

    I'm going to be honest, I don't know really anything about error coins, but I am seeing a little bit of extra metal from looking at it. It could be post mint damage, but it could also be from a chipped die. Not exactly sure, but it sure is interesting.

    Looks like a Die Chip.
    But considering it's a zincoln, it could also be a plating blister/bubble.

    Most likely a die chip, but nowadays with these crappy zincoln's it could be a plating issue. No matter which, NAV IMHO.
