    This coin has the look of a crusty gem that NGC loves so much, but it is really tough to gauge the luster on coins like this. I’m saying the toning mutes the luster enough to prevent a gem grade.

    Can't help but wonder what kind of exposure tones a 90% silver

    This one is going to be all over the place. I'm at MS60. The toning is not allowing me to see some of the detail, perhaps in hand I would be higher.

    Well I definitely don't like the color but I'll say a 35. It has a good amount of wear but it could be a 40.

    Are they trying to claim that the eagle's feathers on the reverse are simply weakly struck? I find that hard to believe.

    Add in the wear on the leg, no hand, robe and breast.

    I think the TPG grader had a hangover to give that coin an MS grade.

    I'm not completely surprised. I gave it MS60 and hedged that in hand it might go higher. :)
