Hi to all, I would like an opinion on this coin, I was told its only worth gold value with the lapel pin soldered on the back. I am having a gold ring made and the jeweller said he can melt it down for me but before I do this I wanted to see if it would have any more value in someones collection.

I agree with whoever told you it is worth gold value. Once that pin was soldered on, it killed the numismatic value.
It would kill me to melt it down...but that's just my love for sovereigns coming out haha.

Welcome to Coin Talk. If it were my coin I'd learn how to make a ring out of it. There are tutorials on how to do this. That way some of the details of the coin can be seen. I don't know that much about it but I don't think it's easy to do. (Time consuming).
