Hi all. This is my first post on this thread. 50 Cents, Singapore, 1986 and 1995. I post two different obverses to share a neat story. In the early 90's, the Singapore Mint decided to change the "frown" to a "smile." If you look again, the two lion heads are the eyes and the banner, the frown or smile. It's sort of an Asian numismatic Feng Shui thing!
Thanks, JeffC! I knew about the change to the banner but it never dawned on me it had anything to do with turning a frown into a smile! From Singapore we shall go north! Malaysia with this here 2000 20-sen (KM 52).
Been looking for one of the early silver issues of that coin. I am guessing that the prices I see reflect more of a demand than low mintage. They always list for a range way out of what The Standard Catalog shows. I did find a nickel 1951 recently. Bhutan - Half Rupee, 1951. Y26. I think that the Numista listings for this series are inaccurate.
